About
The Department organizes special lectures to broaden the students’ horizon on the writings of some eminent writers from an interdisciplinary perspective. Lectures organized by the department on Mahadevi Verma, Premchand, Amrilal Bengar, Hazariprasad Dwivedi, Nagarjun, Parsai has inculcated in the students an understanding of social crises in India.
Group discussions are held in class to provide students an opportunity to share their ideas about literature and contemporary social issues. The students have presented their thoughts and reflections on ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan’ and ‘Dhumketu. Annual-wall magazines on themes such as Badalte Najariye, Agyey Ko Shradhanjali and Mahadevi Ki Chintayon Me Stri have been prepared by students.
The annual Nirmal Sharma Award is for the student of the college who secures highest marks in Part II Exam of Calcutta University.
