A career guidance session on ‘The Four-Year Degree Dilemma’ was conducted at Loreto College, Kolkata, on 12 March 2026 in collaboration with the ICT Society of Loreto College and the coaching institute Erudite. The session was held in the college auditorium from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and was attended by the Semester VI undergraduate students. The session aimed to guide students regarding emerging career opportunities and address concerns related to the four-year undergraduate degree structure under the National Education Policy.
The session was delivered by Mr Inder Chopra, mentor at Erudite and an alumnus of XLRI. He began by discussing the relevance of traditional undergraduate degrees such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., and BBA in today’s rapidly evolving professional environment. He emphasised that while these degrees remain important, the modern job market increasingly demands additional competencies, particularly in digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
Mr Chopra also discussed the implications of the changing employment landscape, highlighting how technological advancements are transforming industries and redefining skill requirements. He shared insights from his professional journey and spoke about career prospects and salary opportunities across various sectors.
In the concluding segment, he introduced the training programmes offered by Erudite for competitive examinations such as CAT, XAT, and GMAT. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing students to clarify their queries regarding higher studies and career pathways.
