The Global Education and Career Fair (GECF) 2026 was organized on 10 April, 2026 by the Career Counselling Cell of Loreto College in collaboration with Bluesky Education Services. The event brought together students, parents, educators and distinguished guests on a day dedicated to exploring global academic and career opportunities.
The programme commenced with a formal inauguration that began with the felicitation of eminent guests that included Mr. Ashida Katsunori, Deputy Consul General of Japan, Mrs. Rupkatha Sarkar, Principal of La Martiniere for Girls, Kolkata, Captain Prakash Pradhan of Rockvale Academy, Kalimpong, Sister Dr. A. Nirmala, Teacher-in-Charge of Loreto College; and Mrs. Purbita Bagchi, Principal of Loreto House. The lighting of the lamp was accompanied by an invocatory song sung by the students of the Eastern Cultural Society, followed by a welcome address by Sister Nirmala. The dignitaries also shared their valuable insights on education and career pathways after which the fair was formally declared open.
The event offered a vibrant and engaging environment for students. Alongside the academic and career guidance booths, several interactive attractions added to the appeal of the fair. A dedicated quiz room saw enthusiastic participation from students eager to test their knowledge. Food stalls provided a lively space for refreshment and informal interaction, while the live painting station drew large crowds, showcasing creativity and artistic expression.
The fair continued throughout the day till 5p.m., allowing over 650 students from Kolkata schools and colleges ample time to explore various career opportunities and engage with university representatives from over 26 international institutions that included the Universities of Reading, Greenwich, Tokyo and Kyoto, the Royal College of Art, London, Trinity College, Dublin, Queen’s University, Belfast and universities across Germany, France, Switzerland and Canada. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of a well-organized and enriching initiative. The Global Education and Career Fair 2026 thus proved to be a dynamic platform that effectively combined information, interaction, and creativity, leaving a lasting impression on all the participants.
