Cultivating Happiness with Mindfulness and Self Knowing

IKS Cell, Loreto College Hosts Workshop on Mindfulness and Self-Awareness

On April, 25, 2026, the IKS Cell of Loreto College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a virtual workshop titled “Cultivating Happiness with Mindfulness and Self-Knowing” on April 25, 2026, for Semester VI undergraduate students. The session, held via Google Meet from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., saw the participation of over 75 students.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Saamdu Chetri, who introduced students to the principles of mindfulness and the importance of self-awareness in managing stress and enhancing overall well-being. Blending scientific research with philosophical insights, Dr. Chetri highlighted how mindfulness practices can positively influence brain function, emotional regulation, and even cellular ageing.

Key concepts such as neuroplasticity, cognitive strengthening, and the role of meditation in reducing anxiety were discussed. The session also explored the framework of the “Three Divides”—self with self, self with the environment, and self with others—offering students practical ways to address internal conflicts and enhance their interpersonal relationships.

The initiative reflects the IKS Cell’s commitment to holistic education and student well-being, particularly at a crucial stage as students prepare to transition beyond college life.
