A Report on Alumna Lecture Series

On 13th March 2026, the Department of Economics, Loreto College Kolkata organized the March edition of the ongoing alumna lecture series. Ms. Janvi Popat, an esteemed alumna of the department and an entrepreneur, currently serving as Director at Shreeji Garments Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. was invited as the speaker.

The programme began with a short introduction of the speaker by Deetya Roy, a semester VI student of the Department of Economics. Ms. Popat was felicitated by Sharanya Basu, a Semester-I student.

The session was enriched by the speaker sharing her journey as an entrepreneur and spoke about the challenges and opportunities in building and expanding a manufacturing business. She highlighted the importance of profitability and sustainability in ensuring the long-term growth of a business. She also shared valuable insights on the manufacturing process and expansion of industries, giving students a practical perspective on how businesses operate and grow.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Payel Roychowdhury, a Semester VI student of the department, expressing gratitude to the speaker for sharing her experiences.

The lecture proved to be an informative and engaging session for the students, offering them meaningful exposure to the role of entrepreneurship in the economy.
