Psychology Society Orientation

The Psychology Society of Loreto College conducted its Orientation Programme on 19th September 2025 with great enthusiasm, introducing students to the society's vision, activities, and opportunities for participation.

The session was led by the society heads: Clara Thapa (President, 3rd Year), Swastika Routh (Vice President, 3rd Year), Ayushi Nandi (Treasurer, 2nd Year), Anisha Bhattacharjee (Report Writer, 3rd Year), and Nandini Basak (Social Media Manager, 3rd Year). The orientation also acknowledged the constant guidance and support of the esteemed staff advisors - Dr. Sayantani Chatterjee, Dr. Dinaz R. Jeejeebhoy, and Ms. Nayanika Saha.

The orientation highlighted the history of the Psychology Society, founded in 2009, and emphasized its inclusive nature, welcoming all students, both from the Psychology department and beyond. The society envisions itself as a platform where psychology goes beyond theory, creating a safe and empathetic space for dialogue, creativity, and growth.

Students were introduced to the society's key events and initiatives, including:

Kalakriti- an annual event celebrating the talents of differently-abled children, fostering inclusion and empathy.

Psych Quest & Mind Maze- competitions testing knowledge and creativity going to be conducted for the year 2025-26.

Samagam (College Fest)- an inter-college platform promoting collaboration and self-expression on themes of mental health and inclusivity.

Talks and Workshops- providing opportunities to learn from experts and engage in meaningful social initiatives.

The presentation further encouraged students to participate actively, highlighting the benefits of joining the society: learning beyond classrooms, collaborating with peers, and experiencing psychology in action through interactive events, cultural fests, and creative projects.

The orientation concluded with a warm welcome to the first-year students, inspiring them to carry forward the society's legacy and contribute their ideas and energy to its future endeavors.
