Loreto College Hosts Its First Intra-Model United Nations (Intra-MUN) 2025
Loreto College, Kolkata, proudly hosted its first-ever Intra-Model United Nations (MUN) 2025, a two-day event held on 22nd and 23rd September 2025. The event aimed to foster diplomatic engagement, critical thinking, and leadership skills among students by simulating the proceedings of international and national deliberative bodies.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the second day's proceedings of the UNGA Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) were rescheduled and successfully conducted online on 15th October 2025. The conference concluded with the declaration of results from both committees, marking the successful culmination of Loreto College's inaugural Intra-MUN.
The event featured two committees - the All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM) and the UNGA DISEC - providing delegates with a platform to deliberate on pressing national and global issues through rigorous research, debate, and resolution drafting.
The AIPPM was moderated by Mr. Upal Mitra and Ms. Sananda Ray from Jadavpur University, who provided insightful feedback and guidance. Delegates represented a range of political leaders and ideologies, engaging in spirited yet structured debates that reflected exceptional research, negotiation, and analytical skills.
The UNGA DISEC, chaired by Mr. Abhirupak Chattopadhyay and co-chaired by Ms. Srijita Mandal, also from Jadavpur University, offered an intellectually charged platform for discussing issues related to global peace, disarmament, and international security. Under their leadership, delegates examined complex topics such as arms control, military alliances, and humanitarian cooperation with notable clarity and diplomacy.
Faculty members and the Executive Board commended the delegates for their preparation, professionalism, and decorum throughout the sessions. The conference concluded with the announcement of awards recognizing outstanding performances across both committees.
The Intra-MUN 2025 stands as a testament to Loreto College's commitment to cultivating globally aware, civically responsible, and intellectually driven young leaders. It marked an important milestone in promoting a culture of dialogue, diplomacy, and democratic participation within the college community.
