Department Academic Orientation
The Department of Geography, Loreto College, Kolkata organized the Academic Orientation of the 2025 batch students on 31st October to welcome the new batch in the Geography Department. The Academic Orientation of the Department has been a tradition over the last three decades. The session featured two engaging presentations of which one was on the Industrial Field Visit to Haldia, where students shared their field experiences and observations on the process of electricity generation in a coal based thermal power station.
The orientation also included glimpses of various memorable departmental events conducted in last year such as the Visit to the East Kolkata Wetlands (EKW), Visit to the Solar Dome and the much-enjoyed departmental picnic, all captured through short videos and behind the scenes moments that reflected the joy and camaraderie of student life and made the session lively . A Quiz Session was also conducted, keeping the freshers actively involved and entertained while testing their curiosity and enthusiasm for geography. Small keepsakes, such as personalized keychains, were distributed as tokens of welcome and appreciation. The event created a cheerful and interactive atmosphere, marking a delightful beginning for the new students and an inspiring close to an eventful day.
